Haunted hotel downtown San Diego?

okay, so my friends were talking about this haunted hotel thing in downtown San Diego. they said it was 20 stories high, super scary and if you got to the top then you get your money back. but hardly anyone ever gets to the top. They say the staff can kind of rough you up a bit too so it makes it even scarier. not like tackle you or anything but just touch or separate you from your friends or something. Anyway, i've looked on line and the closest thing i've found to it is the haunted hotel. it's the only haunted house thing in san diego that has a ';children under 10 not recommended'; warning so I'm guessing that's the one. however, i was looking on the site and couldnt find anything about it being 20 stories high and i couldn't find anything about getting your money back if you reach the top. and the site also says that it has a strict no touch policy and its basically just walking down scary hallway looking through rooms. That doesn't sound very scary and it doesnt say how long it is or if you get your money back for reaching the top. is what my friends say true( 20 stories, money back for reaching the top, get seperated from your group and a bit roughed up, etc)? because i've heard it from several different friends but can't find anything about it online.Haunted hotel downtown San Diego?
Wow...I live in San Diego and have no clue what you are talking about and I LOVE hauntings??? There is the famous Hotel del Coronado which is said to be haunted but I dont know if its 20 stories high and i doubt the staff play along with haunt games. Cant wait to see if anyone comes up with the answer!!! Is this a Halloween thing?? I did a search and found this: http://www.hauntedhotel.com/Haunted hotel downtown San Diego?
not even true. click on the link and read the urban legend.

this rumor seems to run rampart in the month of october

This is crazy I don't know where or how this rumor got started but at least one person will post this question somewhere every year. I've heard 2 floors, 10 floors, a most common 13 floors, but yours is the tallest so far haha

It sounds like fun but there is no such business in San Diego. You see my friend we're in debt and we just can't afford the sexual harassment suit, or financial disputes, or workers comp claims, or whatever else people are lame enough to file for if we created such a place. Plus 20 floors it would have to be at like Wells Fargo, AT%26amp;T, Manchester or some other ppl who own a building tall enough for this and there's no way they let us trample around their waxed floor office suites for a holiday. We can't even drink on the beaches here now so there's no way this would pass with our growing bucket list candidates.

However, there are a few trust fund babies down here so it is possible one or a few of them set up their own haunted place with these specs set out, who knows. But it won't be any place advertised in the local paper.

Go back to your friends and play it cool and tell them to prove it.

Hope this helps friend! :)

Best Hotel Downtown Dallas?

I think that depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for luxury, my suggestions would be either the Adolphus or the Mansion on Turtle Creek. Both have an amazing staff and great service. Speaking from experience, the Mansion on Turtle Creek has amazing restaurant. I know the Adolphus has an acclaimed one as well but have never visited myself. If you are looking for a nice, romantic weekend I would highly recommend either of these two.

If you're a bit more budget conscious but still want a unique experience, I would suggest either Hotel Indigo or the Belmont Hotel. Both have a lot of character however without the additives of chain hotels.

Hope that helps!Best Hotel Downtown Dallas?
I would reccomend the Hotel Palomar Dallas - a Kimpton Hotel

We really liked the Palomar a lot. The modern d茅cor is very nice without being too trendy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is central, on the edge of the very beautiful Park Cities area and close to downtown. But the hotel is also right next to a highway and the noise is hard to ignore.

We booked a one bedroom suite that had a large entry foyer, living room, separate bedroom, and large white marbled bathroom. There was one step down from the hallway to the living room and bedroom areas and one step up to the bathroom. Each room was good size with a black and pale yellow color scheme and very nice flat screen televisions with some of the clearest pictures we have seen. A bedside iPod docking station is an appreciated addition to the room. The beds were very comfortable. The lighting was nice and allowed us to created mellow mood at night. Of course the best non-standard feature of the room was the gold fish that kept us company throughout our stay! The bathroom was a real standout. With a whirlpool for two, separate shower, and very attractive overall look. The bath products were by L鈥橭ccitane.

The rest of the hotel is also very nice with a bright cool looking lobby, and a hip looking restaurant/bar. The hotel gym is nice but very small and does not present much of an opportunity to get a good workout. There is a spa at hotel but we did not check it out. The pool area is very nice by design, but unfortunately it was too cool to swim in. I was told by a guest that stays at this hotel on a regular basis that she thought the hotel kept the temperature low during the week and raised it on the weekends when the pool scene picked up. The air temperature was in the upper seventies during our stay.

Our room was in the middle of the hotel so half the rooms where closer to the highway and half farther away. Although we slept well, there is a constant noise level that we think would bother some guests, especially if they are on a vacation. It was also a shame that the owners of the hotel built a residence building to the south of the hotel, blocking a nice view of downtown and taking sunlight away from the pool.

The hotel offers a complimentary wine hour every night that is a nice touch you can not find at very many hotels. The Palomar is a beautiful hotel that has the feel and look of a nice boutique style property. If highway noise is not a factor for you, then you should be pretty happy at this hotel

Memphis Hotel Downtown?

Last time I stayed at the Peabody hotel which wasa pretty good hotel but for the price wasnt great. Only thing good really was the location. Are there any hotels that are located right around there that are cheaper. If you can name a couple I would be greatly appreciatedMemphis Hotel Downtown?
You can actually view a list of hotels around the Peabody that's sorted by distance (closest are listed first).

The Peabody is a 5 Star hotel. Try the Sheraton or the Hilton. both are downtown and should be a few dollars cheaper.

Cheap Hotel Downtown Chicago-this weekend?

Hi there,

I am looking for a cheap hotel (under $200) Downtown Chicago, I would prefer the Loop, Magnificent Mile, or Theater District. Any recommendations?

Any site that has last-minute deals? (I am traveling this Friday-Saturday)Cheap Hotel Downtown Chicago-this weekend?
My cousin has always had good luck with priceline in downtown chicago, but I am a little leery of using it cause you don't know what hotel they are gonna choose for you.Cheap Hotel Downtown Chicago-this weekend?
You can search and choose hotel information, rates and availability for free in over 200 countries world wide at my profile.
This site, though, does get you the best deals online. Try it out for your next trip:

http://www.hotelscombined.com?a_aid=781b鈥?/a>
You may want to forget about getting a room for under $200 right now. The city is selling out due to a bunch of conventions in town this week, and Friday-Saturday is just about as bad as Saturday-Sunday. Hotel rooms anywhere near downtown are at a premium right now so if you can find one, even the crappy ones are around $300 a night.

If you 're not willing to pay that much, check downtown after April.

good luck with that...anything right downtown is more than 200 unfortunately. and thats when you can actually get a room!

Wow....excellent question as there are LOTS of fine Hotels on or near Michigan Avenue. Some questions come to mind though( I am Owner of a Travel Agency; as such I deal with these and similar situations regularly):

1-What type of amenities are important to you?

2-Maximum you want to spend per night, keeping in mind that this is Downtown Chicago?

    3-How long a stay?

Those minor considerations aside(and they are important as no 2 Hotels are alike), there's plenty of Hotel options in the Downtown Chicago area. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve15663@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with your specific criteria, we can search through the many fine Downtown Chicago Hotels and also help you in making an informed decision.

What's the best new orleans hotel downtown?

Another very nice hotel in the French Quarter is the Monteleone Hotel.

I would also say The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is right up there.

http://www.maisondubois.net/What's the best new orleans hotel downtown?
There are many, many hotels in downtown New Orleans and ';best'; depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

The Windsor Court hotel is the top-rated and most expensive hotel in New Orleans. Another top hotel is the Ritz-Carlton.

I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre';) if you can. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive ';boutique'; hotels. Search Yahoo Travel and Travelocity for ideas and also check the hotel websites. Go to www.frenchquarterhotels.com for some non-chain hotels.

A great hotel that鈥檚 downtown but outside the FQ is the Le Pavillion: http://www.lepavillon.com/What's the best new orleans hotel downtown?

I recently attended a medical conference and we stayed at the Sheraton Wall Centre. It is a beautiful hotel, centrally located to everything. The staff was outstanding, the room (request the North Tower) had a breathtaking view from the floor to ceiling window, and the amenities were what you would certainly expect from a 4 star hotel. Price wasn't too bad either, for downtown. It's walking distance to just about everything you might want to do or see in town, including the ferry to Granville Island. Fairmont Hotel Downtown Vancouver?

Has anyone stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Vancouver (the Hotel Vancouver)? What is it like? Is it nice?Fairmont Hotel Downtown Vancouver?
I have stayed at the Hotel Vancouver. It isn't my usual first choice. However, my choices have to do with price and locations close to either work or my regular hangouts, and what I am now use to. I was at the Hotel Vancouver just last year. That time I was in a corner suite, so don't know if it is an average comparison. It was spacious and all the carpets and furniture were new. The bathroom was also remodeled. Not the same as staying there a few years back now when I found the bathroom substandard for the price I paid. It was small.

The hotel is grand inside and out. The lobby is huge, with vault ceilings. Location is good. Quick access to skytrain, and shopping at the mall or Robson street. Hockey arena and Football stadium just down the street.

Fairmont has really worked at a prestigious image. The best hotel I have been in for facilities (and in a way, location) is the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. It is right in the airport, so I use it when I just have an overnight layover in my flight itinerary. I am not suggesting this, unless you areone night in town. I am just pointing out that the best hotel I stayed at was a Fairmount.Fairmont Hotel Downtown Vancouver?
Yes, I have, a few years ago. The rooms are very nice. Hotel Vancouver is one of the higher end hotels in the city of Vancouver, and has one of the best reputations. It also has one of the best locations being downtown and near Granville Street and Robson Street where there are lots of restaurants, cafes, retail stores, etc.

    Cheers,

    Petra M, Vancouver
It is VERY nice with the price to match. There is also a Fairmont at the Airport. There are very nice Bed and Breakfasts in Vancouver too - great way to meet people and exchange activity ideas.
My sister in law works there and I';ve been a couple of times. It is a premier hotel and gorgeous. You'll love t. It's right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, and there are lots of staff who will help you find your way around. Enjoy!!!

  • Is it true that the Carlton hotel, downtown Johannesburg had to close down because of crime?

    http://dojcarltonhotel.blogspot.com/

found the above article for you to read up on.

Its very sad indeed. Is it true that the Carlton hotel, downtown Johannesburg had to close down because of crime?
Heard you can still have good rooftop parties! With enough security. Is it true that the Carlton hotel, downtown Johannesburg had to close down because of crime?
Possibly , it was closed in 1997 i think

but i hear that there are plans to re-open it for the 2010 soccer world cup, im not sure how true that is as the Carlton Complex is now owned by Transnet and they have stated that they are not interested in the hospitality industry unless there is a solid financial backing for the project.
Yes true indeed. As mentioned by Zim$ and ZXCV, the building was sold to Transnet. Most businesses relocated to Midrand and Sandton however, there is a drive to 鈥榗lean up鈥?JNB. The plans are to restore JNB to it鈥檚 former glory. It is questionable if they will succeed. We will have to get the Nigerians, Zimbabweans etc out of the city to accomplish this dream. I just hope this does not stay a dream only.
That could have been the final nail.....but its profits started declining in early 90s.......the relocation of most businesses to Midrand was the begining of the decline of the Joburg CBD........
It really is a shame Darth, the Carlton Hotel used to be such a beautiful place from what I remember. There was also the Johannesburger, remember? However, I have also heard that Jhb CBD is going to be spruced up for the 2010 soccer so lets wait and see what miracle will come of that.

Walking from The Fillmore to the Hilton Hotel downtown Detroit...?

I am going to the Shinedown concert on Feb 5 at the Fillmore in Detroit. Is this a safe area to be walking at night after the concert?Walking from The Fillmore to the Hilton Hotel downtown Detroit...?
    Hi Sarah-

Safety can depend on a lot of factors, specifically how many people will be in your group, but generally speaking downtown is safe. I'm old, white and it has been weeks since anyone shot at me.

More than safety though, I'm concerned for your comfort. You say the event is Feb 5 and that could mean the temp might be around +5 degrees. Add in a whipping wind and you could get uncomfortable fast; especially if the Fillmore is warm (it will be) and you're inside gettin all James Brownian with your funky self to a tropically moist 80 degrees... then you step out into weather too cold to believe.

The first 5 minutes outside might feel good, but the sweat will soon start to freeze. Even the sweat in your pants will start to freeze and then you will be in danger of a couple of things.

One is frostbite, the other is that bad people look for people who are distracted by something. A freezing girl shivering is not looking around, not aware, not vigilant and that can make you a target.

So, if you don't want to take a taxi, I suggest the People Mover. There is a station one block south of the Fillmore on Grand Circus Park and you'd want to get off at Cadillac Square.

    http://www.thepeoplemover.com

They're running trains until 2 AM it costs .50 cents one way.

PM me if you have any questions, or if you really have you heart set on walking I can tell you the best way.

~Jack~Where can i get the best price for a La's-Vegas package. Air fafe and hotel downtown?
When searching for the best price for our trip I found that it was the most inexpensive to book without a package. Find the cheapest flight you can then find the hotel with the best deal. There are a lot right now having winter specials. The Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Luxor, Mirage, MGM they all have some sort of deal going on.

We live in Canada and we paid 370 for flight, and through a deal stay $79 per night at the MGM grand. So in total it cost about $500 for two people. We split the hotel 3 ways so even less! Plus it was a very nice hotel. A lot of the package deals I see are not the nicest hotels, and if they are they are to expensive.

    Check out these websites

I always book separately to save money. We are going in March and we paid a total of $1181 for flight and hotel for four people. We caught the $99 fares on Southwest.com, which made our tickets only $200 each, and we always stay at Excalibur when we can get their $51 rates. Downtown hotels are even cheaper than strip hotels so you could probably look at about $40 per night. Sign up for the email offers from the dowtown hotels through their websites and they will send you promotional offers for discounted rooms and such.

If you must book the trip together, I recommend Southwest Vacations. They have the most affordable packages. They are still slightly more expensive than if you book the hotel separately, though.

If you can go during the week, you are going to save a lot of money all around. Have Fun! With open travel dates, you have endless possibilities. If you want to let me know your location and such, I will look up flights and hotels and let you know what I find.

I am visiting Miami from September 28 - October I will be staying at the ardisson Hotel downtown Miami?

I need to know where is the best places to shop for women and children clothes, and the best way to travel around is it by taxi or by public transport how expensive is taxi and how can I get to a Target, Walmart and Kmart I want to go to 3 storesI am visiting Miami from September 28 - October I will be staying at the ardisson Hotel downtown Miami?
There are two Radisson's in Miami: One downtown %26amp; one Southwest of the Airport. There's a Wal Mart a couple of miles north of the Radisson out West. Just off SR 826. There's also a Target in the opposite direction, off SR 826 on Bird Rd. The K-Mart's are not worth wasting your time looking for. Just do a store search in Yahoo under each name %26amp; you'll get a map with all the listings.I am visiting Miami from September 28 - October I will be staying at the ardisson Hotel downtown Miami?
I went to South Miami Beach, Florida this summer and it was a lot of fun. I can tell you that taxis are fairly expensive (.69 per mile, I think and they charge you for waiting time, too). I did not see many buses other than tour buses, but I think you would be much better off to rent a car, buy a Florida map before you leave, and then do an online search by city for the stores you want to visit. Miami has many upscale stores with cute clothes, but if you look in the phone directory once you get there and you have a map, you should be able to find some inexpensive stores. When we were in Miami in August, I don't remember seeing any of the ones you mentioned, although they probably have them. You might be better off buying the clothes you want from those three stores before you leave because there is a lot to see and do in Miami. Believe me, I didn't see many inexpensive things in a tourist town like Miami, but good luck to you and have fun.
ok well i live in miami and im gonna tell you the best place to stay is a hotel around south beach or surfside- bal harbour cause if you wanna shop the best place is lincoln road or aventura mall and tati is really expensive to go anywhere from downtown- plus theres nothing in downtown- unless you want to go to bayside which is close and cheap and you can buy lots of stuff

How much will it cost for a taxi from CHICAGO O`HARE airport to the WYNDHAM hotel downtown?

I live downtown -- trust me, it's going to cost more than $24. Depending on the traffic, it's going to be at least $35-$40.

If you are not carrying a lot of bags, I definitely suggest taking the Blue Line into the city. It's the best $2 you can spend. Although if you are getting in very early or very late, you should just go ahead and take the cab. Good luck! How much will it cost for a taxi from CHICAGO O`HARE airport to the WYNDHAM hotel downtown?

    Nashville hotels downtown?!?

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Nashville, TN? I'm doing a girls weekend (age 25ish) down there and we don't know where to stay. Has anyone stayed at the Hutton? Are there restaurants nearby and how bad is the walk to the bar scene?Nashville hotels downtown?!?
I just wrote a travel article on my weekend in Nashville. We stayed in the Comfort Inn downtown. It was cheaper but clean and in a really good location. It is a close to the District, if you're into nightlife activities. Also, Centennial Park downtown is great, the Hermitage is perfect if you are into history, and then there is a winery just outside of Nashville. Check out my article for details and pics. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>Nashville hotels downtown?!?
You could go to Trip Advisor and find hotel reviews for places to stay in Nashville and the Nashville Metropolitan Area. I find this website helpful because it gives you honest opinions and viewpoints from past travelers on their experiences at hotels they have visited in the past.
My wife %26amp; I have been there several times and stay at the Hilton Suites downtown. It's within walking distance to all the major tourist and party places. The rooms were great and prices were well in line.

If your group are steak eaters, go to The Stockyard. It's one of the top steak houses in the entire country, and they'll even come pick you up, and then take you back to your hotel.
Not sure where in the ATL Nashville is.. Is it a street or a borough near the Omni? Or over by the Fulton County Stadium? I was there back in the 1980's but I think that the area has changed a little.

  • What happened to the Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown Denver at 1881 Curtis Street?

I stayed at this hotel last September and liked it good enough, more for it's location than the actual rooms. I attempted to stay there again and now cannot find any trace of the hotel. There are a few old reviews and invitations to be found by the google, but otherwise it is like it never existed. Did this hotel get bought out? Closed for renovations? Tore down? Bought by a wealthy individual and turned into a funhouse?

If it is coming back, when? What happened to the Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown Denver at 1881 Curtis Street?

great site with lots of good priced hotels. Have fun..GO COLTS!Hotels downtown indiana?
There are many good hotels in downtown indianapolis! One being the conrad in downtown and the other the catterbury hotel which is a very historical hotel and the only 5 star hotel in Indy! If you want cheaper than the Hyatt Regency downtown and also the Embassy Suites hotel is really nice! The good thing about downtown Indy is that all of the hotels are connected by crosswalks so you don't even have to step outside to get to the RCA dome or the Circle Center mall!Hotels downtown indiana?
Personal favorite is the Canterbury - pure class.
It's not in downtown Indianapolis, but I would recommend the Drury Inn.
    Very interesting....

Where's the best hotel, downtown, to throw a party within the suites for reasonable prices?

trying to throw a party for a gathering of 30 people. I'm looking for an ajoining room(suite) that would allow us to reserve somewhere downtown Chicag.Where's the best hotel, downtown, to throw a party within the suites for reasonable prices?
A lot of hotels have suites available, but I don't think they rent them out with the idea of 30 people partying in them in mind. With a party of that size, they'd probably make you rent a conference room or ball room something. They'd probably be afraid that 30 people partying in two adjoining suites would disturb their other guests on the floor. You can try, but don't be surprised if they turn you down. Your best bet at pulling this off is to just rent the rooms and sneak everyone up there, if that's possible with 30 people.Where's the best hotel, downtown, to throw a party within the suites for reasonable prices?
You may end up renting an entire floor of a hotel, as it's really difficult for hotels to have a party for 30 people on a floor where they're going to have other guests sleeping...but this time of the year (between New Years and Valentine's Day) is extremely slow for hotels, so it may not be as expensive as it sounds. You may be able to rent half a floor and they just won't sell the other rooms unless they have to. There are some suites that would accomodate 30 people, but I've only seen them in private hotels where you have to be a member to rent a room...in the hotel where I work it would be a fire hazard and you would have to rent the floor.

Check out the Palmer House Hilton and the Hilton on south Michigan. There's also the Hyatt Regency just south of the River, a new Hampton Inn on west Monroe. And I think you could look into the Crown Plaza on south Wabash, which would be a little less expensive. Either way I would call the hotel and ask the front desk agent who to speak to about a block of rooms and go from there.

Can I walk from the Sheraton City Centre Hotel Downtown Toronto to China Town?

Going on vacation and wanted to know if its in walking distance. Can I walk from the Sheraton City Centre Hotel Downtown Toronto to China Town?
Yes it is an easy 20 minute walk. But Queen street will also grab your attention, with it's unique shops, like the Condom Store, and the studios for Much Music , and MTV, at Queen and John streets.

Go out the main hotel entrance on Queen street. Turn left ( west ) and start walking, you are looking for Spadina Avenue. Turn right ( north ) at the corner of Queen and Spadina and walk north to wards Dundas Street ..

Toronto has FIVE Chinatowns, and the oldest one is spread out along Spadina and along Dundas. Just to the west of Spadina ( two blocks ) is Kensington Market, a 6 square block area of ethnic stores, and cafes and food purveyors. Want to by a live chicken ? Or 100 year old eggs ? Get it all at Kensington . it has been a Toronto ethnic enclave since the 1870's.

My favourite Chinese restaurant is the Asian Legend , located 2 blocks east of Spadina on the north side of Dundas. Modern and full of ................Chinese eaters. All ways a good sign, right ? Their menu is extensive, and I reccomend the ';General Tao chicken ';. Note the red pepper symbols on the side of the menu pages, the more red pepper signs ,the hotter the dish will be .

Chinatown and Kensington can engage you all day, if you let it.

When you are done, go back this way

. East on Dundas , and watch for these landmarks along the way. The Art Gallery of Ontario, at Dundas and Mc Caul. Toronto Police station number 52 on Dundas east of university. At Dundas and University, turn right ( south ) and walk down the widest street in Toronto, which has 18 different gardens and fountains in the middle of the street. On the left as you walk south is the US Consulate, note the security barriers in front of it while across the street is the main courthouse in Toronto, with no security barriers. .

At Queen and University, look for the wonderfull ornate building that is Osgoode Hall , a part of the University of Toronto Law School. It has a unique wrought iron fence around it, which was designed to keep the cows out, when it was first built in 1843. Check out the gates, that admit people, but keep out cows.

Just east of Osgoode Hall is the Toronto City Hall, and surrounding it is Nathan Phillips Square, named after our first Jewish mayor, elected in 1959. The twin towerrs hold the city adminsitration offices and the city council chamber.

Your hotel is just across the street.

Enjoy your visit to my city.

Jim B. Toronto. Can I walk from the Sheraton City Centre Hotel Downtown Toronto to China Town?
    Amanda:D

Your directions are backwards. Spadina Avenue is WEST of her hotel, which is the Four Seasons, on Queen, oppoisite the Toronto city hall. Secondly, Kensington Market is WEST of Spadina road, not east of it.

Definately! Just down King to Spadina (Eastwards). Head north on Spadina and you're in the heart of Chinatown. Maybe a 15 min walk. Kensington is a little further east in the College/Spadina area.
I find that google does this very well. Get the address for the Sheraton and the addres of China Town or one establishment in China Town and get directions.

The online hotels bookings could also fetch you with a good discount which comes as a privilege to all the netizens. However, there are certain points that one must take into consideration while booking his reservations. There are many phoney travel websites that may not provide you with all the travel facilities as stated. You should also be clear regarding the disadvantages of taking the hotel in the suburbs of the particular destination as you might need to pay a heavy commuting fee for sightseeing. So, the distance of the hotel/resort from the heart of the city should be clearly taken into consideration while you book your stay in a particular hotel. What is a good hotel downtown Vancouver to have a hotel party?

Is the marriott hotel downtown detroit safe ?

We are going on a trip this weekend and I have a discount for the marriott hotel in downtown detroit. My dad insists he does not want to stay there because downtown is dangerous. I say it will be fine since it is a nice hotel. Is not only downtown safe but the marriott hotel. Is the marriott hotel downtown detroit safe ?
Downtown is very safe. Unless you are afraid of clean towels then you have nothing to fear. All of the real crime in Detroit happens in the neighborhoods. Don't get me wrong, it is a big city and anything can happen, but less likely in downtown. I lived downtown and it is not like some stupid tv show. At night everyone is gone. You actually have a few places that stay open all night that are just cool dives to stop in if you want a story to take home. Nothing violent, but amusing. You will find that most of the downtown is filled with working people during the day, party kids at night, and mostly quiet empty streets at night. If you want somewhere dangerous to stay I can recommend a few places, but Marriott is not one of them.Is the marriott hotel downtown detroit safe ?

It is inside the darn Renaissance Center ... the only place safer would be Fort Knox.
I have stayed there numerous times, and have never felt unsafe despite what the perception of the Downtown area may be.
It is absolutely safe. I've stayed there several times for conventions.

Wow, that's a long, crappy walk from the Metro Red Line station.

The Clarion Downtown is really not in Downtown, it's west of downtown, almost in Koreatown.

You didn't say where you are coming from, but I'll guess the airport. The best way to get there is to take the ';Flyaway'; bus to Union Station. You'll find it on the lower level outside each terminal. From Union Station, go downstairs to the Red Line, which you take to Macarthur Park station. Then go south on Alvarado 4 blocks, turn left on Olympic, and go two more blocks.

Macarthur Park is rather dangerous, even in daytime. It is known for its crime and drug dealing.

Depends a lot on where you are asking about.

The answer is yes. Avg cost, $350 a month for an older, less than nice hotel, in a less than desireable area of town. $500 a month or so for a halfway decent one in an okay area of a city or town. And $950+ for the specialty, nicely done retirement hotels.
